My Story
My grandmother, Hacer Ulus, who came from a family of producers, always cared for the soil. When I was my age, she bought a 7-acre garden in Seferihisar, Izmir, and planted seven tangerine saplings. Since the garden didn't have an irrigation system like today, she would carry water along the stream and pour it over the seven tangerine saplings, one by one. That's how our story of the 7 began.
Time passed, trees grew, and new ones were added. The land (life) that my grandmother lovingly tended, nurtured with the teachings of pesticide-free agriculture, and where I played as a child, is now entrusted to us.
My ancestors knew no medicine; they operated with the natural cycle. They used to say, "Take good care of the soil, and it will surely reap its rewards."
The soil is enriched and flourishes with love and care. Nature has no other medicine than nature. The natural cycle heals itself. Worms, insects, and plants are beneficial to the soil. By combining all this knowledge I learned from my ancestors with today's technology, we cultivate sustainable agriculture. We produce our own pesticides in our garden, using vinegar, nettle, and garlic extracts, without any chemicals. By converting the organic waste we consume in our daily lives into plant fertilizer and improving the soil's nitrogen cycle, we make our trees more productive every year. Of course, we don't do this alone. We do this with the help of the insects, worms, bees, and naturally occurring plants that grow in our garden.
I wish you health, well-being, and happy meals.
